On June 10th, Sense International Romania attended the National Conference „High Quality Special Education. Foundation for the development of people with disabilities – Success pages of special education”, an event organised by Bucharest School Inspectorate in partnership with the Federation of Education Unions „Spiru Haret”.
This conference was attended by specialists and university professors, representatives of the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, of the Institute of Education Sciences, school inspectorates, non-governmental organisations in the field and parents.
Sense International Romania was among the organisations invited to hold a presentation of the projects implemented over the years, all of them implemented in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research and local authorities.
Cristiana Salomie, Director of Sense International Romania, described the organisation project in front of over 100 participants.
Therefore, we emphasised the importance of early intervention for babies born with sensory impairments and the results of this project in Bucharest, Oradea, Timișoara and Iași, a project co-financed by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union. We highlighted the importance of making early intervention part of the Romanian legislations.
The presentation also included information about the education of children with deafblindness in Romania, successfully included in the Romanian education system and about the vocational services developed in 7 town in Romania, with financial support from Orange Foundation and Medicor Foundation.
