Spring on the Move

This spring, the tradition of orientation and mobility trips to Predeal continued through two special experiences held at the end of April and in mid-May, together with children, parents and teachers from partner schools from Arad, Bucharest, Buzău, Cluj-Napoca, Focșani, Galați, Iași, Sibiu, Timișoara and Vicovu de Sus.

Together, we shared moments filled with discovery, recreational activities and meaningful experiences that helped strengthen the participants’ confidence, independence and relationships.

Early Spring, Discoveries and Mountain Joy

The first trip began with a journey to Sinaia, where participants enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and new experiences for many of them. The cable car ascent and gondola descent brought excitement and joy, while the spectacular mountain scenery turned the day into a memorable one. A visit to Peleș Castle completed this special experience.

The second day was dedicated to shared activities: games, imagination exercises, confidence- and balance-building activities, walks, a raffle, certificates and many moments of connection and relaxation. The children’s enthusiasm, the parents’ involvement and the teachers’ support created a warm atmosphere full of positive energy.

Adaptation, Creativity and the Power to Keep Going

The second trip came with unexpected challenges, but also with important lessons about adaptation and teamwork. Rain and storms changed the plans for the visit to Sinaia, but they did not affect the group’s good mood. The participants built stories together and experienced an adventurous ride on the “trocarici” (a small tourist train) to Cabana Trei Brazi, continuing afterwards on foot towards Cabana Secuilor.

On the second day of the trip, the children and young people took part in creative activities, did painting, and tried bowling for the very first time. They also met Granny and Iliuță, two special puppet characters who helped them discover that, beyond our differences, we share many things in common. Through play and interaction, these characters brought smiles, curiosity and genuine moments of connection between the participants.

Together, We Build a Community

The orientation and mobility trips we organise annually represent important opportunities for developing the autonomy of children and young people with deafblindness and associated disabilities. At the same time, these meetings create spaces for social interaction, mutual support, and strengthening the community formed by children, families, and teachers.

We would like to thank all the children for their enthusiasm and energy, the parents for their trust and involvement, as well as the teachers who are with us every step of the way.

Our thanks go to our hosts at Pensiunea Medieval Predeal for their warm welcome and support throughout the activities. Special thanks go to Monica Catuțoiu for the sign language interpreting and the support provided to participants, as well as to Fundația CODA Farmecul Tăcerii for the music booklets and brochures offered to the children and young people.

We are delighted that we were able to continue this beautiful tradition this year as well, and that together we created memories that will remain in everyone’s hearts for a long time.
