I too sense music, 2nd edition
You are invited to the online workshop ”I too sense music - music therapy for children with deafblindness and sensory impairments”, second edition. The event will take place on Wendesday, December 3 2025, between 18.00 - 19.30, on ZOOM. The workshop will be held by Dr. Russ Palmer, PhD, International Music Therapist and Vibroacoustic Therapy Practitioner.
The workshop is organised on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and is part of a wider campaign, through which in December, the 24 partner schools of Sense International Romania in Arad, Bucharest, Buzău, Cluj, Craiova, Galați, Fălticeni, Focșani, Iași, Oradea, Sibiu, Târgu Frumos, Timișoara will carry out music therapy activities, using musical instrument kits donated for this purpose. As every year, we dedicate this campaign to the one who was Vasile Adamescu (b. September 5, 1944, Borcea, Călărași, d. December 6, 2018, Cluj-Napoca), teacher, artist, writer, promoter of the rights of persons with disabilities.


About Russ Palmer

International Music Therapist
Russ Palmer is an International Music Therapist and Vibroacoustic Therapy Practitioner. Born severely deaf, Russ has Usher Syndrome, a genetic condition that causes a deterioration of sight and hearing, leaving you deaf and blind. He is registered Deafblind and uses two cochlear implants (CIs).
Alongside his wife, Riitta, Russ has been a member of the social-haptic communication research group at the University of Helsinki, Finland, since the early 1990s. Russ has developed and taught social-haptic communication, haptices (touch messages) and is a founder, developer and advisor of using haptices in everyday life. Along with Riitta, Russ has published various books on social-haptic communication.
Russ is a songwriter and musician who has published a music CD and DVD, and has been involved in the development of a portable music floor known as the Tac-Tile Sounds SystemTM with the University of Sheffield. His main focus is with dual-sensory impaired clients, and he has published various articles on musical perception using cochlear implants and vibrations.
Through musical expression and therapy he applies a concept and understanding of how people who are losing their hearing and sight can feel musical vibrations. He also gives international presentations as a deafblind music therapist with two cochlear implants.

Registration
The workshop is aimed at special education and mainstream teachers working with children with deafblindness/sensory disabilities, psychopedagogical teachers, students, master's students, psychologists, other interested specialists who want to learn about music therapy.
Participation in the event is FREE OF CHARGE and the number of places is limited. The workshop will be held in English, but we will have simultaneous interpretation in Romanian.
The registration period has ended. Participants who have completed the registration form are asked to check their email inbox for the workshop login link (including Spam).
Participation certificate
Participation in our workshop is FREE OF CHARGE. However, a processing fee will be charged for those who wish to be issued a Participation Certificate, under the following conditions:
- Actual participation in the workshop, justified by presence (writing in the chat present, first name, last name, city);
- Payment of the fee of 50 lei;
- The diploma will be issued electronically and sent by e-mail to the address provided in the registration form.
ATTENTION! The amount transferred to obtain the diploma is not refundable. For this reason, we will create a link for making the payment only after the end of the workshop. The deadline for making the payment and obtaining the diploma by e-mail is 2 months from the date of the workshop (December 3, 2025 - February 3, 2026).
