For every child, together

Between November 2025 and October 2026, Sense International Romania is implementing the project "For every child, together". The project is implemented with the support of the OMV Petrom Foundation, through the "Today. Together." funding fund, edition 2025.

"For every child, together" proposes the development of an early intervention service for newborn babies and young children with sensory disabilities and their families.

Project aim and results

The project addresses the issue of sensory disabilities not identified at birth, which leads to inadequate support and social exclusion of these children. Even when problems are identified at birth, there is no state service in the center of the country that offers specific therapies.

Specifically, the project involves the establishment of a specialised early intervention service within the Inclusive Education School Center no. 2 (CSEI 2), in Sibiu, within a multi-disciplinary partnership, by providing sensory stimulation materials and equipment, training specialists and creating an early intervention class. The project also aims to raise awareness about early intervention for children with sensory disabilities.

Project direct beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are 40 children 0-6 years old and their family members: 10 newborn babies and toddlers 0-3 years old newly identified and included in the early intervention group, along with 30 children with sensory disabilities from the preschool cycle 3-6 years old already enrolled in CSEI 2. In addition, 20 specialists in education, health and social services will have increased capacities in providing quality identification/early intervention services.

What is early intervention?

Early intervention is a specialised service for children (0 to 3 years, sometimes 3-6 years) who have developmental delays caused by either visual or hearing disabilities, multiple sensory disabilities or deafblindness. The goal is to identify and address any developmental delays as early as possible and to provide the support the child and family need to overcome the obstacles.

The main activities included in this type of service are communication activities, sensory and cognitive education, orientation, mobility and general motor stimulation, emotional and social development activities, physiotherapy and, extremely importantly, information and counseling for parents.
