I too sense music
You are invited to the online workshop ”I too sense music - music therapy for children with deafblindness and sensory impairments”. The event will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024, between 18.00 - 20.00 and benefits from the presence of two guests, specialists with a rich experience in the field of music therapy: Carmen-Venera Pătruțescu, psychologist and Alex Lupo, musician, performer, composer and producer.
The workshop is organised on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and is part of a wider campaign where, throughout the month of December, the 23 partner schools of Sense International Romania from Arad, Bucharest, Buzău, Cluj, Craiova, Galați, Fălticeni, Focșani, Iași, Oradea, Sibiu, Târgu Frumos, Timișoara will hold music therapy activities, using kits of musical instruments donated for this purpose.
As every year, we dedicate this campaign to the one who was Vasile Adamescu (b. September 5, 1944, Borcea, Călărași, d. December 6, 2018, Cluj-Napoca), teacher, artist, writer, promoter of the rights of people with disabilities.
Carmen
Carmen-Venera Pătruțescu is a psychologist, with rich experience in the field of education of children with special needs. He graduated from the Faculty of Psychology at the "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca, then followed postgraduate courses specializing in psychopedagogy and educational management. Currently, she is based in Germany, where she obtained professional recognition, being a member of the Association of Psychologists in Germany, taking advanced courses in pedagogy-psychology, art-therapy and music therapy with Orff instruments.
Carmen currently works as a pedagogy specialist and coordinator in a children's center in Munich, where she carries out therapy activities through creative methods, assessment of children's development, counselling of parents, as well as mentoring for practitioners and students.
Alex
Sense Arts & Wellbeing leads the way in championing inclusive arts across the UK, with a focus on fostering meaningful connections through creativity. Central to this mission are collaborators like Alex Lupo, a neurodivergent musician and music therapist with over 20 years of experience as a performer, composer, and producer. As a key partner in Sense Arts' inclusive programme, Alex works closely alongside Kris Halpin, Sense’s Artistic Director for Music, to ensure accessible and impactful opportunities for creative engagement.
Alex brings extensive expertise in non-formal music education, devising and delivering inclusive music-making projects for people of all ages in diverse settings. As a registered music therapist, Alex’s work with the people supported by Sense blends artistry and wellbeing, creating powerful experiences that celebrate individual expression through music.

The workshop is addressed to special education and mainstream teachers who work with children with deafblindness/sensory disabilities, students, master's students, psychologists, other interested specialists who want to learn about music therapy.
Participation in the event is free of charge and the number of places is limited. To register, please fill out the form.
IMPORTANT! The workshop will benefit from interpretation into Romanian.
Participation certificate
The participation to our workshop is free of charge. However, a fee will be charged for those who wish to receive a Participation Certificate, subject to the following conditions:
- Actual participation in the workshop, justified by attendance (writing in chat present, first name, last name, city);
- Payment of the fee of 50 lei;
- The diploma will be issued electronically and sent by email to the address provided in the registration form.
The fee can also be paid with the teachers' didactic card.
NOTE! The amount transferred to obtain the degree is non-refundable. For this reason, please make the payment after the workshop is over, to avoid the unpleasant situation where you cannot participate for objective reasons. The deadline for making the payment and obtaining the diploma by e-mail is 3 months from the date of the workshop (December 3, 2024 - March 3, 2025).
