This is the question that, for 2 days – special education teachers, psychologists, physiotherapists and social workers – have tried answering in Oradea, as part of the biannual network meeting of teachers working with children with deafblindness and multisensory impairments.
The meeting, called Autism versus deafblindness – a challenge in the education of children with multisensory imapirments, gave those present the opportunity to discuss similarities and differences in approaching the two conditions. There were discussions around the theoretical aspctes, including the latest research at international level, as well as practical elements in assessing children.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the hosts – Alina Vese, inspector for special education at Bihor County School Inspectorate, Ioana Corompaki, director of Pyramid Learning Centre, Dr. Carmen Avram representaing the Clinical Recuperation Hospital Baile Felix and Rodica Lezeu, Director of the School Centre for Inclusive Education CRISTAL, alongside specialists from Bucharest, Craiova, Iași, Oradea, Sibiu and Timișoara.
