For two days, Sense International Romania attended the International Conference The Evolution of Deafblindess – What Next?, an event held in Moscow in April 3-4, 2018. The conference was organised by Connection – Deafblind Support Foundation and Yaseneva Polyana.
The key word of the conference was evolution and the way in which modern world is continually changing, which makes disability, deafblindness more specifically, to permanently and continually evolve.
All presentations were extremely interesting and covered topics such as the causes of deafblindness and current trends, clinical aspects in the rehabilitation of people with multiple disabilities, psychological and pedagogical aspects in using hi-tech, modern requirements in training specialists working in the field, as well as modern assistive technologies supporting people with sensory impairments.
The entire event was organised under the lights of comics describing disabilities as super-powers owned by super-heroes – people with disabilities. In the presentation we held about the Romanian journey in the field of deafblindness, we talked about our own super-hero, Mr. Vasile Adamescu, and we were pleasantly suprised to hear that he is quite known in Russia.
Below you can enjoy a series of 6 comics, each telling the story of a super-hero, made by Happy People events. Thank you, Iulian Dogariu, for translating them from Russian.
