Words of thank you addressed to Mr. Vasile Adamescu by Etelka Czondi, Director of Sense International Romania. (Video + English transcript below)
Hello and I am really happy to see so many participants.
It is a true pleasure and I am convinced that Mr. Adamescu is also very happy to have so many young people here.
I know he enjoys that.
Dear Mr. Adamescu,
Viorel, please, kindly interpret for me.
For more than ten years, I believed that we, Sense International Romania, laid the foundation of everything happening in Romania in the field of deafblindness.
Then I read your books and I realized I was wrong.
You yourself are the true foundation, the true cornerstone in everything around deafblindness in Romania.
The moment you first stepped into a school was the moment that deafblindness started to be known and renown.
You and your teachers, as well as your friends, are the promoters – the ones who fight for the rights of people with deafblindness.
In 2001, our organisation was established. I am referring to the foundation Sense International Romania.
Five years later, we have succeeded, through our efforts and the efforts of other organisations, to have deafblindness recognized by the Romanian legislation as a distinct disability.
We worked together with the Ministry of Education. We still work with the Ministry of Education, with universities, special schools for children with hearing and visual impairments, hospitals, local authorities, doctors.
But I believe we would not be where we are now, had it not been for your support. Mister Adamescu is a member on the Sense International Romania Board of Directors.
I am truly honored and proud to know you.
For us, you represent the home that, in this crazy world, humanity and kindness still exist, even if at times we cannot hear or see them.
Thank you for fighting and confronting life. You are an example for us all.
In the end, I would like to offer you something, Mr. Adamescu.
It is a plaque, a distinction of honors: VASILE ADAMESCU, THE PROMOTER OF THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DEAFBLINDNESS IN ROMANIA.
You can hang this on the wall, alongside all the other awards that I know you have.
Thank you!
You are welcome!
